Sashiko Workshops & Classes 2026 – Learn In-Person with a Japanese Sashiko Artisan

Sashiko Workshops & Classes 2026 – Learn In-Person with a Japanese Sashiko Artisan

As we step into 2026, I am once again grateful for the path that Sashiko continues to weave across places and people. What was once an ordinary form of stitching in Japan has now become a practice that connects us—through workshops, retreats, and shared stories—across cultures and generations.

These workshops are designed not only to teach technique, but also to convey the mindset and philosophy that sustain Sashiko. Each gathering is a chance to learn the “Core & Essence” directly from a Japanese Sashiko artisan, and to experience the depth that goes beyond visible stitches.

I look forward to welcoming returning participants who wish to deepen their practice, as well as new learners who are beginning their own journey with Sashiko. Together, in 2026, we will continue to stitch threads that carry both tradition and possibility into the future.

Reasons to Attend?

Atsushi Futatsuya, a Japan-born Sashiko artisan, offers one of the few authentic, foundational workshops available in-person each year. In many English-language classes today, Sashiko is often simplified, missing the deeper cultural mindset. Atsushi’s Core & Essence workshop brings that authenticity, technique, and cultural respect to life.
