About Atsushi Futatsuya as Sashiko Story
Atsushi's Profile
I am a Sashiko artisan and storyteller, born into a Sashiko family in Gifu Prefecture, Japan. My journey with Sashiko began in childhood, surrounded by the hands of artisans, including my mother, Keiko, whose stitches carry the quiet yet profound essence of this tradition.
In 2015, my mother started Sashi.Co, asking for my support in sharing the joy of Sashiko. Two years later, I began telling my own stories through @SashikoStory and @UpcycleStitches, striving to preserve and communicate not only the technique but also the rich cultural significance behind each stitch.
For me, Sashiko is more than needle and thread—it is a process, a dialogue with fabric, a connection to those who came before us. It is a way to see and appreciate the world differently, through the rhythm of hand-stitching and the stories woven within it.
