Pink & Blue Variegated Sashiko Thread — Natural Indigo & Western Madder

This unique Pink and Blue Variegated Sashiko Thread was originally created by Keiko as an experimental color in 2023. It was offered in Japan at the beginning of 2024, then 10 skeins following on this webstore. It was very well received.

The thread is dyed twice—first with Western Madder and then with Natural Indigo. This two-stage natural-dyeing process requires additional time, materials, and careful work, making the production process especially elaborate.

Keiko initially intended to create a purple shade, but the finished thread developed a stronger pink tone. The layered dyeing creates a complex range of pink, blue, and subtle purple tones.

Each skein has its own character. The balance of pink and blue, the transitions between colors, and the depth of the shades vary slightly from skein to skein. For this reason, each skein is individually numbered so that you can select the one you prefer.
