After many requests for fabric prepared specifically for Sashiko stitching, Upcycle Stitches is pleased to offer our first ready-to-stitch practice fabric.
Made from indigo-dyed cotton—the fabric we most enjoy using for Sashiko—each piece features a fine pattern silk-screened with water-soluble ink. Simply stitch along the printed lines, then wash away the markings when you are finished.
We believe that learning to draw and transfer patterns yourself is an important part of Sashiko. At the same time, we are happy to offer a ready-to-stitch option in response to your requests.
A large Asano-ha pattern is relatively easy to draw, so we chose a smaller scale for this fabric to help you practice small, fine stitches. If you have completed our Sashiko Stitching Workshop (Core & Basic), this fabric is a great way to revisit what you learned and refresh your stitching rhythm.
For those new to Sashiko, we strongly recommend using our Sashiko needle and thread. A set deal is also available. Please read the experience-level guidance below before choosing this fabric.

Important Notes
-
We do not recommend this fabric for beginners or first-time Sashiko stitchers. The pattern is very small, and an established stitching rhythm will help you enjoy working with it.
-
The printed markings dissolve in water. Moisture from your hands may cause them to fade or disappear while you work. Please keep a chalk pencil handy to reinforce any fading lines.
