This booklet was created in conjunction with a Small Furoshiki Exhibition held in Japan in November 2025, centered on the practice of our Sashiko.

Rooted in the belief that “everyone is different, and that is a good thing,” and in the conviction that “Sashiko can be beautiful on both sides,” this booklet shares an important perspective: the beauty of Sashiko is not the result of special or advanced techniques, but rather of accumulated wisdom passed down through everyday practice.

With the generous support of Sashiko artisans with whom we share long-standing and meaningful connections, the exhibition—and this booklet—came to life as a quiet record of those values.

This booklet exclusively features photographs of both the front and reverse sides of the Sashiko work, along with reflections from the stitchers on their thoughts, intentions, and relationships with their pieces. These words and images offer a deeper glimpse into the hands and minds behind the work.

Within these pages, you will encounter Sashiko that continues to live and breathe today. It may be called “traditional,” yet it is not something frozen in the past. It is a practice still carried forward by people in the present, just as it was by those before them.

We hope this booklet offers you an opportunity to reflect on Sashiko, small furoshiki, and the continuity of handwork as part of everyday life.
