[Story Behind Sashiko Original Thread]
Keiko at Sashi.Co finds joy in dyeing threads with natural dyes, using ingredients like logwood, madder, and mountain peach. Each skein is hand-dyed, embracing the beauty of nature’s palette. However, achieving consistent colors in large quantities—while keeping prices affordable—has always been a challenge.
To bridge this gap, Sashi.Co & Keiko Futasuya experimented with synthetic dyes to replicate the hues of natural dyeing. In 2015, the best results of this effort were two shades: Beige and Moss Green. However, by 2020, advancements in natural dyeing techniques allowed us to reproduce similar colors without synthetic dyes. As a result, once T-1 and T-2 sell out, they got discontinued. These threads are the final skeins of our inventory.
